Cardio, for some it's a dreaded word and for others it's a passion they can't get enough of. Either way you look at it though, cardiovascular exercise is one of the key components that should never be left out of a fitness plan.

Cardio, short for cardiovascular exercise, is any movement that gets your heart rate up and increases blood circulation throughout the body. There are various forms and methods of performing cardio exercise - all which will have specific benefits and guidelines.

Most individuals performing cardio are using it as a way to burn off excess calories and since you are moving the body, it is going to increase the need for energy. Some forms are slightly better when strictly speaking of fat loss but all cardio, regardless of form will burn off calories. Since fat loss does depend on calories burned versus calories consumed it is a step in the right direction.

The reason to do cardio does not end with fat loss though; there are a wide variety of health benefits you receive from a regular cardio program.


BENEFITS

Improved Heart Health
The first one is an improved condition of your heart. Your heart is a muscle just like any other and in order for it to become strong it must be worked. If you fail to work it, it will weaken over time and this can cause a variety of negative health effects.

By getting the heart pumping at a faster rate on a regular basis you will keep it in shape and healthy. Too many people are getting winded just performing simple exercises such as walking up the stairs and the primary reason for this is because they are neglecting to work their heart muscle.

Increased Metabolism
Another reason to perform cardio is for its effects on the metabolism. Along with speeding up your heart rate, cardiovascular exercise also increases the rate of various other processes in the body, also known as your metabolism.

Generally speaking, the more intense the cardio session, the more noticeable increase you will see with regards to your metabolic rate. Intense interval sprints (also known as HIIT) increase the metabolism; the highest with a process called EPOC (Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption). An increased metabolism means an easier time maintaining your weight (or losing weight as the case may be).

Improved Hormonal Profile
Performing cardiovascular exercise also changes the hormonal profile in your body considerably. It releases 'feel good' hormones that will help ease symptoms of depression and fatigue as well as releasing hormones that decrease the appetite.

Individuals who partake in regular cardio exercise often have a much more positive outlook on life simply because they are getting the stress-relief benefits from these hormones.

Improved Recovery Ability
Certain types of cardio exercise, usually lower, more moderately paced forms, can decrease your recovery time too. If you have just performed a hard session in the gym, hopping on the treadmill for a walk or light jog will help to remove some of the by-products that were created during the lifting session.

This will help to reduce your DOMS (delayed onset of muscle soreness) and help bring more oxygen rich blood to the muscle tissue improving in the repair and rebuilding process. To you, this translates to your being able to get back into the gym quicker and work the muscles again.

Building muscle mass is a combination of an overloading stimulus and sufficient rest to allow the muscle to heal itself. If you skew this balance either direction, either working out too much or providing too much rest in between, you aren't going to get optimal results.

The more frequently you are able to work a muscle though (assuming full recovery has been achieved) the faster you will add additional new muscle. Cardio helps you do this. Just don't take this too far as excess cardio or cardio done at such a high intensity that it places additional strain on the muscles is going to actually hinder recovery rather than aid it.

Management Of Diabetes
Lastly, for those who have diabetes, cardiovascular exercise helps them manage this condition. By performing the exercise you will increase your muscle's ability to utilize glucose. Those who exercise regularly tend to have better control of their blood sugars and do not see as many blood sugar swings as those who don't. For diabetes this is increasingly important as they are extremely sensitive to changes in blood sugar levels.

Like omega-3s, they help prevent dry skin and inflammation; they're also essential for the formation of prostaglandins, hormones that keep all the cells of the body functioning well.

While many diets are actually quite high in omega-6s - sometimes even too high - the key is to get the good ones and not unhealthy versions, like hydrogenated oils. So try sautéing your salmon or broccoli in a little safflower or sunflower oil and double those skin-soothing benefits!

Follow this simple instructions to remove it manually.

  1. Click your Start Menu > Select Run > then type cmd and hit the enter key.
  2. Your are now in the DOS mode. Type cd\ > then type dir/ah and hit the enter key again.
  3. Type this command attrib -r -s -h *.*
  4. Then delete the following file extension "*.vbs, *.inf and *.htt" by typing this command in the DOS console.
  5. del *.vbs then hit enter key
  6. del *.inf then hit enter key
  7. del *.htt then hit enter key

Note:
  • The DOS command cd\, puts you to the root directory of your OS installation or your drive partation (i.e. C:\ and D:\ and so on).
  • The command dir/ah, shows files in the current directory with attributes "hidden".
  • The command attrib -r -s -h *.*, it removes your system attributes, read-only (-r), system (-s), and hidden (-h) of all files in the current directory.
  • The command del *.inf, del *.vbs and del *.htt, it deletes all files with the extensions INF, VBS, HTT in your current directory which is your drive C:\ and D:\ and so on, depending on how many partations is your Hard Disk Drive.
  • Actualy, this following file extension *.inf, *.vbs and *.htt, are the common file extension on viruses that hides in your system.
To be safe/sure permanently, install your most favorite antivirus and antispyware softwares in your computer so that you will have confidence on virus treats in your PC.

The advantages of enabling NTFS of removable storage devices are mostly security related. For example, an NTFS file system lets you to add allow and deny permissions on individual files and folders for specific Windows users, something you cannot do in the FAT file system. But that’s not all in terms of security. You can also encrypt files using Windows XP’s built-in encryption.

Other benefits include the ability to compress files and therefore save space on your USB drive. You can also set disk quotas and even create partitions! Formatting USB drives in NTFS has several advantages that would be good if you need to use some of these advanced features, i.e. for your IT department or if you’re just paranoid!

However, there are also a few drawbacks to using NFTS on a USB drive. Firstly, there is a lot more writing to the drive that is required when using NTFS and therefore your access to the device will be slower. Will it make a major difference that would prevent people from using it? Probably not, but it’s something to consider. Also, versions of Windows older than 2000 cannot read NTFS file systems, nor can most Linux systems.

The other major downside is that if you encrypt your files on the USB drive, you will not be able to open them anywhere else. Actually, this can be considered a downside or an upside depending on what you want to do. If you want to secure your USB stick so that only your user account on your one computer can open the files, then encrypting is perfect. If not, then do not encrypt the files.

Follow this Instruction:

  1. Be sure that you inserted you USB drive to your USB port. From the desktop, right-click on My Computer icon and choose Manage.
  2. Click on Device Manager and then expand out Disk Drives. You should see your USB drive listed there as “Generic USB 2.0 USB Drive” or something similar.
  3. Now right-click on the USB drive under Disk Drives and choose Properties. Then go to the Policies tab.
  4. Now you will see two options, the “Optimize for quick removal” selected by default. Go ahead and change that by selecting the “Optimize for performance” option. This enables writing caching on the drive and therefore allows you to format it as NTFS.
  5. That’s it. Now click OK button and then go to My Computer icon on your deskop by double clicking it to open. Once you see the drive partition's of your system, right click on your USB or Memory stick drive and choose format. In the File System drop down menu, you will notice that there are two options of type format, FAT32 and NTFS. Choose NTFS and click the format button to do the formating.
  6. Then now your done. You have now your USB or your Memory Stick formated with NTFS file system.

  • Find the EnablePrefetcher REG_DWORD and
  • Right click on it then select Modify Binary Data.
  • Notice that the default value is 3, now change the value to 6.
  • Click the OK button, close the Registry and reboot your computer.
Now notice the changes once you open your application.

Here's a simple system tweak by replacing the AM and PM of your system clock located in your system tray with your name.

Note: Replacing the AM and PM of your system clock with your name is limited only to 12 characters of letters excluding the number.

Follow this instruction:
  • Click Start > select Control Panel > double click Regional and languages.
  • Click Customize button beside the drop down menu of language whose default is English (United States). See the image:
  • In the Customize Regional Options Menu, select the Time tab. Below it, you find the AM and PM Symbol.
  • Rename the AM and PM Symbol with the name you like. Please read the Note above for the limitation characters to be inputted.
  • After you've done inputting your desired name, click the OK button. The changes you made will take effect immediately. Look at your system tray clock now to see the result.

Firefox takes up too much memory on your computer when it is used, but you can limit the amount of RAM that is allowed to use when firefox is use.

  • Open your Firefox webrowser.
  • In the URL area type this, about:config. It will bring you to the Firefox configuration mode
  • In filter area type this, browser.cache.disk.capacity, notice that it is set to 50000, but you can lower it, depending on how much memory you have.
  • Right click the browser.cache.disk.capacity and select modify then enter the value you desire. Remember always, that it is depending on how much the capacity of your memory installed in your system. If you have 512MB - 1GB of memory, try to enter 14000 or 15000 as your desired value.
  • Click the OK button if you done inputting the value.
  • Restart your Firefox browser to take effect the changes made.
Hints!: Aside from right clicking browser.cache.disk.capacity and select modify, you can also double click it. It will automatically take you to modify and enter the value you desired.


You can also reduce RAM usage further for when Firefox is minimized.

This setting will move Firefox to your hard drive when you minimize it, taking up much less memory. And there is no noticeable difference in speed when you restore Firefox, so it’s definitely worth on the go.

  • Open your Firefox webrowser.
  • In the URL area type this, about:config. It will bring you to the Firefox configuration mode
  • Then right click anywhere and select New > then select Boolean. Copy this one config.trim_on_minimize, and paste it in as the new Boolean value and then click the OK button it will give the option to select either FALSE or TRUE, select TRUE then click the OK button again.
  • Restart your Firefox browser to take effect the changes made.

Sometimes you get registry entries or system files in your system is damaged somehow, even if you don't know the real reason why it is happen. But at same time you need to find a way to fix it without installing new system in your computer in order to save time and effort.

Here's a simple steps to make that problem to be fix with in a less time. In your system32 folder inside your WINDOWS folder, there's an application there that called "webfldrs.msi" it is an application to run on purpose for repairing some corrupted sytem files like your ".dll" file. In order to make it, follow this simple instruction:

  • Click Start button > select Run then type this c:\WINDOWS\system32\webfldrs.msi
  • Insert your Windows XP CD to your CD/DVD ROM, others call it Optical Drive.
  • Click the OK button, it will create an installation setup.
  • Click the "Select reinstall mode" button.
  • Check all the check box option.
  • Click the Reinstall button.
  • After clicking Reinstall button, it will automatically copy some of the important files needed from your CD that you inserted from your optical drive to your WINDOWS folder where it is reside. By default it is in your Drive C:\WINDOWS.
  • After done copying the important files, it will prompt a message saying that "Install has completed successfully"
  • Then click the OK button. After it, your system will ask you to reboot your computer in order to take effect the configuration changes made.
  • Click the Yes button to reboot your computer system.
Then here you go your corrupted system file is now fixed.

The most common factors believed to contribute to type 2 diabetes have always been too much food and too little exercise. However, sleep deprivation seems to also play a role in abnormal glucose metabolism. According to a study published in the December issue of the journal SLEEP, subjects who reported sleeping five or fewer hours each night were significantly more likely to have diabetes over the follow-up period compared to subjects who reported sleeping seven hours.

These findings held true even after the researchers adjusted for variables such as physical activity, depression, alcohol consumption, ethnicity, education, marital status, age, obesity and history of hypertension. According to sleep experts, most adults need seven to eight hours of sleep each night to feel alert and well-rested. Also a person who sleeps less than 6 hours and eats chocolate (brown or dark) have bigger chances of getting diabetes

Adolescents and teenagers need about nine hours each night, younger kids require 10-11 hours a night and children in pre-school 11-13 hours. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine offers the following tips on how to get a good night’s sleep.

  1. Follow a consistent bedtime routine.
  2. Establish a relaxing setting at bedtime.
  3. Get a full night’s sleep every night.
  4. Avoid foods or drinks that contain caffeine, as well as any medicine that has a stimulant, prior to bedtime.

Subjects in the study consumed either low-fat or fat-free yogurt, orange juice, fruit, and a source of protein coming from yogurt or fat-free milk.

So if you skip breakfast, it's important that you change this practice immediately in light of this research. It seems only MALES are afflicted with this. We had a co-staff/driver from FAO who died last month from supposedly BANGUNGOT leaving a housewife and 3 very young kids.

IMPORTANT: Never go thirsty when going to bed and be sure you have plenty of water during your 8-hour rest.

Bangungot has killed a male nurse of UERMMH. It is sudden death in adults which cause them to die while sleeping. Many theories have been put forward as its cause. However, here is an article which sheds some light to the cause of this malady.

This an article of a Philippine Star, one of the popular newspaper in the Philippines.

The reported cause of death of the matinee actor named Rico Yan, is nightmare or Bangungot. Medical investigators in China , Japan and several Asian countries who performed autopsies on persons who died from "acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis" found out that the majority of them had eaten NOODLES as their supper. This was a startling finding.

However, it wasn't the noodles that caused nightmares but DEHYDRATION. Imbibing even with a few drinks of alcohol or just eating noodles immediately before bedtime compound this on an empty stomach will trigger an electrolyte imbalance and other factors that causes a person to dehydrate or lose water.

It is therefore advisable for a person to take several glasses of water before bedtime if he had a few or several alcoholic drinks. Avoid eating noodles before bedtime, but if you cannot avoid it, allow at least two hours for the body to digest the noodles before hitting the sack and drink plenty of water.

The most important thing is, never go thirsty when going to bed and be sure you have plenty of water during your 8-hour rest.

There are many instances where the adrenal glands cause heavy growth of hair.

In the body the hormone levels are managed well and in a balanced form. The Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG) is produced by the liver and this binds testosterone. Free androgen's create a lot of hair growth. When a woman gets an abnormal growth of hair, the first thing she should do is to find a doctor and discusses the problem with him.

Blood tests will determine the imbalance in hormonal levels and when this is resolved she will not have any more unwanted hair growth. The rest of the problem can be done away with waxing and other processes of hair removal.

Did you have a little too much to drink last night?

You’ve probably got a hangover. Hangovers are caused by drinking too much alcohol at one time, and are dependent on each person’s tolerance level for alcohol. It can be based on height, weight, and the genetics of a person. There is no cure for a hangover but there are a few simple home remedies that can help make you feel better. Thankfully, hangover symptoms last only about 24 hours.

The main symptom of a hangover is dehydration and that can be minimized by drinking plenty of water. A headache is a symptom of dehydration and may be eased with pain relievers and by drinking water.

What Causes you Hangovers?
  1. Dehydration of the body - Alcohol is a diuretic (a drug that increases urination and flushes fluids from the body). Drinking coffee the following morning will only increase this problem as coffee is also a diuretic.
  2. Your drinking too much alcohol - Too much alcohol depletes the body of necessary substances required to stay healthy such as vitamins and minerals, water, and blood sugar.
  3. Some alcohol is worse than others - Brandy, red wine, rum, whiskey, white wine, gin and vodka. The British Medical Journal did tests that showed drinking bourbon whiskey is twice as likely to cause a hangover than the same amount of vodka.
  4. There may be mild poisons in your drink - Dr Ian Calder of the London based National Hospital for Neurosurgery states that there are complex organic molecules such as methanol and acetone that are found in some drinks and are said to be responsible for hangovers rather than ethanol (alcohol).
  5. Mixing drinks can cause hangovers. Be careful with what you’re drinking and when you’re drinking it.
  6. The wine is from a bad harvest - If you are drinking wine that comes from a country where a small change in the climate can make a big difference to the quality of wine, eg France, Germany, New Zealand, then in a bad season the wine contains many more substances that can cause hangovers.
  7. You’re drinking a wine that’s too young - Almost all red wines and chardonnay are matured in oak barrels so that they will keep and improve. If you drink this wine younger than three years you run a higher risk of getting a hangover. As a rule of thumb wine stored in oak barrels for six months should be acceptable to drink within the first year. If the wine is stored for twelve months or more in oak barrels it should then be left for at least four years. Some winemakers have been known to add oak chips directly into the wine to enhance flavors, especially in a bad season, and this can take years to become neutral.

Home Health Remedies
  1. Do not have an alcoholic drink in the morning as a cure for a hangover. Another drink does not help and may only make your hangover worse.
  2. Some people think that having a cup of coffee will help to drive away your hangover. NOT TRUE. Avoid coffees and any other caffeinated beverages as they can cause you further dehydration.
  3. Take Vitamin C as it may increase the rate of alcohol breakdown in the body.
  4. Alcohol causes dehydration, so drink plenty of water. Also drink fruit juices and tomato juice.
  5. Bouillon soup or sports beverages (i.e. Gatorade) may help replace depleted salt and potassium.
  6. Try a cold pack to relieve headache pain.
  7. For a headache, take acetaminophen unless you have known liver disease or drink heavily and, therefore, may be at risk for liver disease.
  8. Alcohol consumption can irritate your stomach lining so avoid aspirin and ibuprofen since they may only serve to increase this irritation.
  9. For an upset stomach, try an over-the-counter antacid. Peppermint and chamomile tea may also help.

Future Prevention for the Hangover Person
  1. Never drink on an empty stomach. Food helps to absorb some of the alcohol and aids the body in digesting it faster.
  2. Try to eat starchy foods to slow down the alcohol absorption.
  3. Limit yourself to less than 1 drink per hour.
  4. Try to alternate your alcoholic drinks with nonalcoholic beverages such as water.
  5. Stick to non-carbonated drinks as carbonation can speed up the alcohol absorption.
  6. Try to avoid sweet drinks (and sugary foods) while you drink. The sweet taste of the drink can make it difficult for you to judge how much alcohol you’re actually consuming.
  7. Be sure to choose drinks with low levels of congeners (light drinks such as white wines, gin, and vodka) – these are additives that are found in alcohol that increase your risk of a hangover. Dark-colored drinks (such as red wine, bourbon, and rum) have higher levels of congeners and should be avoided as often as possible.
  8. Drink lots of water before you go to bed.
  9. Get plenty of rest.

Moreover, results from a study in the Journal of the American Medical Association suggest that frequent ejaculation may be related to a lower risk of prostate cancer.

So for the sake of your waist and heart not to mention a few other body parts consider the horizontal workout. After all, it’s a lot more fun than heading to the gym.

A friend of mine undergo an operation to remove the cyst inside her stomach. The cyst that was removed was filled with a dark colored blood. After the successful operation, she thought that she would be recovered after the surgery but things got worst.

I always wondered why I need 8-10 hours of sleep per night to feel human, while others say they only need 4-6 hours.It seems like so much of my time is wasted sleeping. But sleep is important for the health of our bodies and minds. It appears that everyone is different as to the amount of sleep that they require to say healthy. The amount of sleep each person needs depends on many factors. Infants require about 16 hours a day, while teenagers need about 9 hours.

For adults, 7 to 8 hours a night appears to be the best amount of sleep, but some people need only 5 hours or as many as 10 hours. Women in the first 3 months of pregnancy often need several more hours of sleep than usual. The amount of sleep a person needs also increases if he or she has been deprived of sleep in previous days. Getting too little sleep creates a sleep deficit.

Eventually, your body will demand that the deficit be repaid. Our judgment, reaction time, and other functions are impaired when we lack adequate amounts of sleep. About half of all people over 65 have sleeping problems. This change may be a normal part of aging, or it may be from medical problems or medications that they take for there medical problems.

Experts say that if you feel drowsy during the day you haven’t had enough sleep. If you routinely fall asleep within 5 minutes of lying down, you probably have severe sleep deprivation or possibly even a sleep disorder. A large portion of the population is”burning the candle at both ends“,which is creating sleep deprivation. These people are having microsleeps,or very brief periods of sleep, to termporarily satisfy there sleep deprivation.

Many studies make it clear that sleep deprivation is dangerous. Sleep-deprived people performe as bad or worse than those who are intoxicated. Sleep deprivation also increases the effects that alcohol has on the body. Driver fatigue is responsible for an estimated 100,000 motor vehicle accidents and 1500 deaths each year, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Drowsiness is the brain’s last step before falling asleep, so driving while drowsy leads to accidents. Caffeine and other stimulants cannot overcome the effects of severe sleep deprivation. If you have trouble keeping your eyes focused, can’t stop yawning, can’t remember driving the last few miles, you need to get off the roadways.
